I have the necessary clearance between handlebar shaft, steering tunnel mount & steering rods/arms. Exhaust pieces have been cut & fit,READY for welding!! My main GOAL this week,is to get the exhaust welded & painted!! I sold the Sprint 44 I just finished & put my other 2 projects out in the shed. So,this is the ONLY sled I'm working on.

Today I got the gas lines run & filters installed.Got the wiring sorted out;can now control the on/off of engine. Will get lights figured out soon.BUT tomorrow, the day of truth, will it run or not!!! This is what it boils down to,after all those months of working, the fruits of my labor.god I love it.ONLY 2 more builds to do.

Holy cow!!! This sled was calling my name,so I went out & started it up.This engine had sat for MANY years.I put a rebuilt Tilly on it & it started right up.I LIKE the sound of this 440 Sachs twin, unbelieveable.I think this exhaust sounds as good as the 72 Nitro exhaust. The one header pipe, gives it a nice sound. This sled will more than likely stay in the herd. This will be the 3rd sled I keep, along with my Yamaha powered Rupp & my 71 with electric start.I know I'll build up one more with a 400 Hirth.

The hood might get done at a later date.SO,the stuff I put on it,probably won't be permanent.

Chuck, the Yamaha guru came over & helped ohm out stator lighting coils.Yup,they are putting out enough to run the lights. With all the wires hooked to ignition switch, started sled, still no lights. We figured it had a short in the harness, but only on the lighting side.Even a different switch wouldn't fix the light problem. I'll hook the harness back up the way I had it for now & run it if we get more snow. This summer,I'll make a new wiring harness, with just enough wires to get everything to work.I turned the heat off for a week, then I'll run it for a week & get some more work done on my other sleds.

Woodchuck came out yesterday & checked the wiring. He started cutting & replacing the old wires with new. There are not many wires in the new harness, but it has the same functions as the old one.Everything WORKS!!! Another rider, ready for the elusive white stuff!!

I took the sled out & rode it last week.It ran really well, until I started dropping spark, first to number 2 cylinder, then to number one cylinder.I had a Hirth 493 on the bench, lower end & electronics,so I pulled the complete stator & put that in.Haven't put engine back in sled yet to try it out & see if it will run.No hurry I guess, still can't get sleds out of yard, not enough snow in the fields.Hate these types of winter.
