there are the pics of the restored sled in question. i don't pic and choose stories to tell about this sled. the stories i tell are the stories people have told me over the years, and i have told ted's side plenty of times and here it is again,.........
TED PIERCE TOLD ME AND A BUNCH OF GUYS AT WACONIA, I CAN NOT IDENTIFY THIS AS A 3RD DIMENSION CHASSIS, OR A SLED I EVEN BUILT, BUT I CAN IDENTIFY 3RD DIMENSION PARTS. I WANT EVERY BODY TO STOP PISSING AND MOANING, ACCUSING, OR THROWING MUD AT ONE ANOTHER. WE ARE A RUPP FAMILY, WE BUY, TRADE, SELL, PARTS TO KEEP THESE MACHINES GOING. THE HISTORY IS VERY IMPORTANT TO MOST SOME NOT SO MUCH OR IT DOESN'T MATTER TO ALL. NO MORE OF THIS BICKERING CRAP. I WILL KEEP DIGGING TO FIND MORE INFO ON THIS SLED OF MINE TO PROVE IT IS OR IF IT ISN'T!!!

mcruppin, that was a very nice write up you had. i know the difference between facts and stories. my sled is built around stories. fact is there are 3d parts on my sled. why are they there if its not a 3d, i dont know?? like you said maybe he got them from rupp, maybe he bought this modified chassis from rupp and some spare 3d parts, the pic does say, remains of 3rd dimension, so i wonder what that means, i dont know. all i know is what 3 other people have told me about this sled and chuck him self. was it a modified prototype racer the team was working on?? again, i dont know.
as far as lee goes, he has nothing to hide, nothing to gain or loose here. i talked to him about the Alouette, he says he knows what he saw and stands by it. he grew up racing sleds, knows the brands, knows the difference between a Alouette sno-pro and a raider, and knows the difference between a fan cooled 440 and a starburst triple engine. i was glad he came on here to chat about things, and tell what he knows.

Lee, I read your post. Couple of red flags, why would this gentleman with the raider call my son back so quickly and tell him about his days of racing, what he had and also knowing you? I'm a little confused, if your guilty of something most of the time you would shy away from a phone call. Another thing you don't understand first hand information, let me explain. First hand information (period) is when you are involved with something first hand, example Tedd Pierce designed and built the 3D. This is first hand. Now we throw in Chuck Brightley who in fact we still don't know what he did for Rupp or if anything, this is second hand. Now he tells you. Did I miscounted or is this third hand. The fact of the matter is plan and simple Bill tells what he wants everyone to know and shows pictures of only what he wants you to see. He has pictures of the sled when he bought it and during restoration, post away Bill.
The fact that we have asked what Chuck did for Rupp and nothing concrete about his roll with Rupp has been given really is another disservice to Chuck Brightley and maybe his roll with Rupp. It's a shame you and Bill know so much about this but are more about telling YOUR STORIES rather than what Mr. Brightley really did at Rupp. We know what business he owned we know what degrees he had but the most important part of this thread we don't know what he did for Rupp.

ed, i have no idea what chuck did for rupp, i never did know what he did, not my stories just saying what was told to me. i called chucks son today but was not in the office, maybe he can shed some light on his fathers past. i called to chat with chucks wife, but that # is now disconnected. i have nothing more to tell about my sled ed, i am not sure what you want me to say, i am more confused now than ever. the sleds history started with chuck what he told me, then mike who was selling the sled and told me about the sleds history, then chuck passed, then rudy told me history about the sled, then rudy put me in touch with lee and lee informed me about the sled. info after info, story after story.
facts: what i know about my sled. it looks like it started life as a 73 magnum, front end was widened the same on both sides, a jack shaft was added, parts where fabed for jack shaft mounts, extra support was welded to the tunnel to secure motor and jack shaft. when i bought it, it had a 440 xenoah l/c engine in it and still does built by bob niemcheck. extra parts i got with the sled included a special built magnesium rail suspension and magnesium parts, 3 differnt 3 band cleated tracks, which where steel aluminum and titanium, chrome molly handle bars, tach and tach holder. there was some titanium hardware used on the sled, who ever built it. ted pierce said he could not identify the chassis as a 3rd dimension chassis or a chassis he built.
stories, this sled is the 650 3rd dimension, chuck said gene bloom was going to race it if he came out to the mid west, 650 kohler motor and aluminum pipes where in chucks garage. chuck worked for rupp, chuck bought the sled from gene at rupp, what it comes down to is this, was chuck telling the truth or not. not mike, not rudy, not lee, not me. that is where the story begins is with chuck.

It comes down to Tedd Pierce and facts not Chuck Brightley. Also show us the pictures of the restoration. I'm sure you have them,.

Lee what you just said proves to me that Bills sled is not a 3D. There was not a prototype built. There was not enough time to even think about building a prototype. Tedd and Gene had very little notice that they were going to be racing. I have talk to every member of the 74 RUPP SNO PRO team. The 3D it's self was the prototype and they were all built with same size front axel.
"(Chuck told me 1st hand he was present for the bait and switch) when another sled was put through the scrapping process in its place." Lee this is not what you told me on the phone. You said that chuck switched out the sleds his slef.
Me and another guy on this board spent a week in Fairbanks and beleive me we learned alot about Rupp racing history from 3 of the Rupp racers and 1 independant who was with the factory Rupp race team 24/7.

Bull Shit Lee YOU TOLD ME ON THE PHONE THAT CHUCK SWAPED THE SLEDS. But ok let's just say you didn't say that. Did you say that Bill sled was a Prototype?
"Is this Comedy Central here???"
Do not slam this site or your not going to be on here.
The 73 Magnum was the prototype if you want to say that there was such a thing as a prototype.
Have you started on your 3D yet?
Did you really race a 72 Speedway 650 Bluemax

It is fact there were no prototype 3 D's it was designed after the 73 season and the closest sled would have been the 73 magnum, wider, lighter, with Kohler power. Bill was told there were no prototypes by Tedd Pierce. He should have told you this. It's a shame the stories surrounding this sled change with the weather.
The biggest thing I see coming is this took another disgusting turn or this is dividing the Rupp community. The disgusting turn is all the bs and the changing of stories. Think about it, these are just a few I've heard. Mr. Brightley bought it from Blooms Hi-Rev after it was built to race in 75 by Gene as a liquid, Mr. Brightley saved and moved it from Rupp as a complete 3D sled, later it was removed as a bunch of parts. Then to top it off lee calls out his neighbor as shady and also insinuated Mr. Brightley is shady? Correct me if I'm wrong. The fact that Bill informed VS and they put out a story about the Rupp dignitaries informing him the sled was confirmed as a 3D after the Waconia show was a disgusting turn. Someone asked earlier they wanted facts? How are these facts adding up for you? If I had a genuine 650 Third Dimension I would have been head over heels showing restoration pictures. Wouldn't you?

Crap I hate doing this. Eddie, sorry sir but you admitted in you own post that you had deleted a thread before and Rick has deleted what I had to say on this topic 3 times when it came up in the past and the entire thread also. Your statement is false. Ed, your right Greg did pick up more than just the tunnel, bulkhead and hoop. Glenda called him and he said he can't remember what all it was. Suppose to send us a pic he took of it but haven't received it yet-you know Greg. He had never mentioned any of this to me before. BUT in your post you made it sound like Eddie went with him to get this stuff and Greg assured me that NO ONE was with him when he picked it up. If fact Jack would never allow him to go to his house, they had to meet somewhere else. All this talk about Chuck Brightly who the hell is Jack?? How is he connected? How the heck did he end up with the Magnesium 3D parts? Why all the secrecy....Is it all stolen? I know his word is not to be trusted. I also have a sled that came from Jack that is suppose to be original condition. Nope, most of the expensive type parts that are common with other sleds are no longer original. So any parts that came with the 3d stuff that wasn't 3D specific I would question their authenticity.
I would like to add all this talk of me doing this just to support Bill is a bunch of Bull Sh!t. I'm doing it for the same reason as anybody else. In case you haven't noticed I collect, ride, build, sell Rupps. I'm interested in their history also. I will not just sit here and be accused of making up stories or fabricating info just to support Bill. Especially when the ones doing it haven't always been truthfull with me in the past. I'm tired of this subject coming up over and over just so someone can do some bashing. I call them Bait and Bash topics I talked to several people lately and when they saw the "original 3D glass" topic they all thought the same thing---OH NO here we go again! I can't believe the people that run this site can't see how transparent they are. When it come right down to it it appears we can't really PROVE anything. This he said/she said stuff doesn't cut it. Without documentation I wish we could all just STFU and move on. Enjoy you sled for what it is or isn't. Just have fun with it. There i'm off my pedestal. Joe

ed, i only have some pics of restoring this sled, nothing to hide here, i will post some as soon as i get a chance.
yesterday i had a short but real good chat with ted pierce. i asked him yesterday about prototypes sleds being built he did say the 3d went from the drawing board to the build stage and it was a blur, so there where no prototypes. i have not talked to lee since last week so lee would not know this. when building the 3d's they had a short period of time to build them and get them ready to race. he thinks there was only 4 built, and the 650 was he thinks was aluminum chassis. he doesn't think my sled is a sled he built, could it have been built at the factory, it could have, not sure he commented.
i have only told the stories that where told to me. i am not saying me, or the guys who know about this sled lee, mike or rudy are telling stories, it all came from chuck.
i am pretty sure i have figured this all out, chuck buys a chassis from rupp, raided the race department and buys left over or spare 3d parts, brings it all home, builds a sled and now you have the remains of a 3d, when in fact you have a modified chassis, that has 3d parts on it.
is there more to this sled that cant be answered right now, i sure think there is, its main origin, who built it before chuck, did chuck really buy it buy it from gene, or the rupp factory?? there is a cloud over this sled. i want to know for sure, i want the history to be correct also.

This has been like a dog fight. Can't stop it but can't take your eyes off it. In the end, there's no winner, just blood on the ground. There's some valuable Rupp stuff still surfacing, a 650 Tohatsu fanner,a magnesium 3d bulkhead,etc...Turn them into a Rupp snowmobile and be proud of it when you're done. Bye.

/quote]I agree, just don't misrepresent it when your done![/quote]
if your referring to me, that was not my intention, when the glass was found, when my sled came up for sale, the fact is there was no info on the 3d, or how they where built, i never even knew they had off set front ends, no one did. i represented my sled by what the owner had told me when he had nothing to gain by it and also what was wrote on the back of pictures. then mike, then rudy, then lee, it all added up. all the same stories. you couldn't even think about making this stuff up. there is some history about this sled, and the 3d parts, i will keep digging.

thanks john, my stomach has been turning for days. the last thing i want is this kind of turmoil in our rupp world.i want the truth about my sled, i want to know who built it, who owned it before chuck, and what was it originally. chuck, mike, rudy, and lee's word is not good enough to prove the sled. going by what ted said, its not, i need to find and dig up some more info, maybe i cant prove it was the 650 but maybe i can prove its something else.

All this talk about Chuck Brightly who the hell is Jack?? How is he connected? How the heck did he end up with the Magnesium 3D parts? That's legit. I can help answer. Who's Jack. Just a drag racer? He wound up with several Polaris PDC and snopro sleds that had magnesium chassis and motor parts and they just raced the stuff. He was friends with the local Rupp dealer and just wound up with the chassis. Seemed like a perfect place for it to end up with his knowledge of magnesium sleds. How it wound up at that dealer is merely speculation. The story was the surplus race stuff was sold to dealers as parts. I have never heard of Rupp crushing sleds or parts btw. Lets go there, Joe. You can ask him yourself about the flexible flyer you now have. The Rupp stuff. The Polaris stuff. You can even ask him if he knows me and if I've been there talking drag racing and sleds before (yes, at his home). I'll introduce you to him as the current owner of his twin tracker. I will now delete any posts that don't contribute or those that have stories that seem to mysteriously adapt to the situation.
