Another summer project!! The sled is already parted out,a new tunnel has been put together w/parts from old 634 sled. I found the gearing very interesting on this sled. The top gear is a 17 tooth, bottom is standard 28 tooth gear. Why the 17 on top? I'll put a 15 on top,28 on bottom& a red spring in the primary clutch. The spring in the secondary was in the 3rd hole of the 3 holes. What was gained by this? I will be using an NOS center drive track instead of the dual drive track;I don't have any NICE dual drive tracks!!!

The 800 Magnums had a tripple chain and gear. The 17 tooth was an option you could get for any of the Rupp's it added more top end speed. I have them in a few of my ride around sleds. Dan

Track & suspension is in,after a 3 day layoff.Has Brandts 10 tooth drivers, front & rear! re-lined idler wheels, new bearings/seals,front & rear. NOS center drive track. Working on exhaust. Also had to put the secondary clutch on,to check for clearance on the steering side!!

Here's the exhaust tack welded together, will finish welding & painting it tomorrow. I cut all the "EXTRA" junk out of the muffler.damn MICE!!! Have all the fiberglass work roughed in,just needs to be ground, sanded, primed & painted. OK, the seat riser was actually NARROWER than the tunnel!! BY quite a bit. Used galvanized flat stock & shimmed all 3 sides! Now rear compartment fits like it should. It amazes me what I actually have to do to these sleds,to get them ready for ole man winter.

Got the exhaust welded up & painted. I put the exhaust on & ran it.Kinda loud, but liveable. The running boards get slippery in the winter! I have tried the rubber mat, that doesn't work. I've tried the non skid, self sticking, sandpaper stuff, that no workie. I looked at my riding lawn mower today and noticed it had "dimples" for traction. I had a couple of dies made.I tried them out today. The die tool & piece is pictured. This is fastened to the sled, actually, both sides are, with pop rivits.

Thanks cyberlynx. It's always fun to build a sled that is NOT STOCK!! And mine aren't stock.

Heres the rear compartment done & attached to sled. I brought the hood in,fixed the worst areas with fiberglass & mat! Tried soda blasting on inside of hood,it will work to take the black residue off. All decals & other parts are off the hood. Now, I will tackle ALL the cracks!! Yikes!

Dan I have a 634 exhaust around here if you need it? The 634 looks good and probably will take the shoulder out of place trying to start it...

Got the last piece cut[cover]for my seat riser compartment. Got the handle bars cleaned up & put in. Hooked up the brake cable & adjusted the brake. Also hooked up the throttle cable & adjusted. Cleaned, modified[replaced broken wires, also had to add on to some, for the lights],& installed the wiring harness. Sled started,1st pull,it scared me! While it was running,I checked the lights, speedo, carb & ignition. It's amazing that all that stuff works. I think I'm on a roll! Well, it's HOT outside[mid 90's],cool in the shop, overhead fan is on,the radio is turned to the oldie station[106.9]. Ya know, life is OK!! Oh,the seat is at the upholstery shop.
