Still good info can come from a thread like this. Potential buyers can scrutinize a sled for sale. The serial number debate is good stuff. I'd like to find a WT non-magnum chassis with the serial number right smack dab in the middle of these Magnum numbers. That would make it interesting! I went out to the barn and pulled the seat off a 71 WT, serial #121283. Original owner's family business sold Rupp's in the 70's, I bought a 73 Magnum from them Nov/72.

Did Jay tell you they were not correct magnum parts our did you just know. Jay Jr told me what he was selling. He forgot to tell me that negotiating with him cost me the carbides and the V Force reeds. Luke is right, this thing is fast and it came up for sale partly cause they banned it after Jay won the points title with it.

Mark, I have a 440 wide track magnum with serial 121232. A little more food for thought, the magnums I have range from a 600 magnum with serial 118197, to a 440 wide track magnum serial 126748. What a gap in serial numbers. 8500 plus. My best guess with the 71 is the wide track or magnums all having the magnum bulkheads and a wide range of serial numbers they just used what they had in front of them that day to fill orders. Wonder how they kept all this strait?

And Mickey Rupp didn't know how to run an assembly line, apparently.

Hey fasttimes and abare. Jay jr has his other 73 magnum on vintage sleds today for sale, by looking at it im guessing there is not 1 original 73 magnum part on it and im pretty sure he would agree with that statement. But that is an amazing piece of art.

Jay told me it could run at Eagle River in, just from memory here, 73 and earlier vintage modified classes. E R had their own rules. Anywhere else it had to move up. Do rules ever stay the same?Doesn't matter much, it's retired from the ovals.
