Looks great! Another tip you may want to consider is adding some sort of heat shield on lower panel next to the can. I have seen the paint blistered here several times. Just a thought. Joe

Joe Great minds think alike...I was thinking the same thing. Some heat tape would fit in there nicely (at least that's what I call it) it like aluminum foil with a sticky side. I use it on my tubs and cowlings that are close to the exhaust pipes. Any sled shop should have some. Beautiful sled man.

The silver tape is used in the HVAC shops to seal heating ductwork, works great on sleds!

Thanks guys. I will try the HVAC tape -I have some of that already. Planned on using the home made coolant reservoir but the hood just wouldn't close right with it so I replaced it with one of the original style ones. That was a 10 minute job that took an hour....

ITS ALIVE!!! After a little drama it ran for the first time in a very long time. The drama.....exhaust plugged with mouse nest! We found it when we were cleaning the pipes & thought we had it all cleaned out. Wrong! All cleaned now & running fine. Sounds awesome.

Didn't think we had any, but did find a before picture. This was just starting the tear down process. The engine was found as it looks in the picture.

After spending a week in Chicago, our decals are finally on their way but wont make it till early next week. These sleds originally came from North Dakota. Anyone from there heard of either of these places? Found this in the belly pan of the sled we are working on now. It is back on the key now. And Lee's Hi Way Service. The world famous racing team from Fortuna, ND. This is the other 440 that will be our next victim. Coming into the shop soon.

This one has ART pistons in it. Anyone know where I can get rings for these pistons?
Thanks.

Almost ready to start over. The tunnel & bulkhead on this one are in pretty good shape but the metal belly pan has been replaced with one that is not correct. Did I read somewhere here that Elvis sells these panels???
